Nathema, originally known as Medriaas, was the homeworld of the Sith Emperor Vitiate. It was a lush and fertile agricultural world on the far outskirts of the Old Sith Empire. Originally, it was ruled by the Sith Lord Dramath, who had at least two children-his firstborn legitimate son Dramath the Second, and his illegitimate son, Tenebrae, who, when he was a mere child would slay his father and conquered all of Medriaas, slaughtering all opposition, before being recognized by the then Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos, who also gave him the name of Vitiate. Vitiate renamed the world Nathema and went on to rule for a century, torturing and killing the populace at whim.

After the Great Hyperspace War, he invited all the remaining Sith Lords to meet with him on Nathema, and participate in a ritual to unlock the power of the dark side of the Force. When they arrived, Vitiate brought them under his control, forcing them to participate in his ritual, which sucked all life and the Force itself from the planet. Nathema was rendered forever lifeless, and absent of the Force. Force sensitives and potentially every being touched by the Force who went to Nathema's surface, felt as if The Void was trying to rip them apart. Droids on the planet originally experienced a permanent shutdown of their systems, but afterwards they could arrive on the planet without issue, as demonstrated by the droid T3-M4 when he stayed for several months alone on the planet's surface, scouring for mechanical parts for the Ebon Hawk.
